State of Ohio vs. Ruben Rhodes

This comprehensive virtual case study begins with policy and ends with sentencing. Within are educational and authentic videos of the criminal justice system from beginning to end and back around to reoffending and recidivism. It is meant to provide the criminal justice student with a holistic and experiential learning tool. While immersed inside of the case, students will apply, analyze and evaluate current systemic approaches to crime. This innovative opportunity encourages systemic thinking toward effective criminal justice policies and practices.


Sentencing

Today, many courts utilize a researched-based classification system in order to provide the most effective and efficient sentencing. Many crimes also carry a mandatory or mandatory minimum sentence that is usually passed in response to public demand for stricter and more consistent sentences. Please pay particular attention to the judges editorial comments as they are valuable to the dual goals of deterrence and accountability.
